Evolution of Body and Effort Themes

By working with different movement themes as focused overall ideas for a dance class, one is practising and gathering experience on the elementary efforts of our body motion.

Using movement theme work makes possible that the body movement is studied and practised from different points of view

-From a Spatial point of view
-From a Temporally point of view
-From a Gravity point of view
-From a Motion flow point of view
-From a Physical point of view

It amplifies our understanding and consciousness about the structure and complexity of the body movement.

Thus, the movement execution with help of the bodily practise and theoretical understanding will became much more profound and differentiated in its quality in its transitions and connections.

Away from black and white and towards the in between, the texture of the movement.

The movement theme work should include all Movement efforts during a certain period of time. This signifies, when the practise and application of one theme is accomplished a new and different movement theme is introduced in the class.
After achieving to work ones on all efforts the evolution of the Effort theme starts, the second stage begins.

The theme work is a progressive move forward. It starts with the Basic subject of an effort and moves progressively towards the next higher and more complex theme of the same effort. The advancement is therefore based on the before established skill.

The progress can be seen as a spiral.
It starts with the basic subjects of all movement efforts.
A successively organized process of Space/Time/Weight/Flow and of the Body and travels after accomplishing the first period higher. Each accomplished circle of skills is based on the before established circle of skills and thus, develops from simple to complex.

All Movement Efforts are always mutually interconnected.
