Free Dance Technique
When we analyse the existing dance techniques, we realize, that each Stile highlights certain movement aspects as the basis of its body and movement aesthetic, as well gives consciously importance to certain motion features, that underline the characteristics of the technique and avoids or diminishes others.
By those dominating characteristics we can determine a stile or technique.
By letting out certain movement factors and featuring other, one trains on a dance technique that exercises, educates and gives consciousness over one part of the human body movement, while leaving other factors more untrained, and unconscious.
That is reality.
I want to bring here in account the fascinating idea of Rudolf von Laban, who proposed to develop a free dance technique.
A Dance Practice, based on the human body movement possibilities, free from fixed stiles, techniques, mannerisms, and fashions.
By movement analysation, the study of space and dynamic laws, Choreutics and Eukinetics and the knowledge of motion structures, progression and organization, the dance teacher develops for its dance class a temporary movement vocabulary, structure and practice based on a body and movement idea.
The structure and type of the class depends on the necessities and progress of the students. Multiple movement practices and methods as improvisation, creation, exploration, kinetic imitation etc. can be applicated to develop overall awareness and movement skills.
A general Motion understanding and bodily implementation is aspired by the anatomical, physical, spatial, rhythmical and dynamical understanding of the body action and not just by an introduced Terminology.
After the physical process and the theoretical understanding a Terminology can be utilized and will be handled by the dancer in a different and more intelligent way.
