Mode of class

In order to plan, organise and structure a dance class, first we need to know what kind of class, what class type is required.
I want here to introduce and establish two basic class types which can then be varied if necessary.

A)
Technique based Body Formation by studying and practicing a given established temporary Vocabulary

B) Creative and Explorative oriented
Formation by practicing and experiencing different creative methods and techniques

Movement Factor

Is the description of a Motion Effort
that forms, develops and therefore takes part in a Body Action

Movement Theme

Is a consciously chosen movement aspect which belongs or is related to one of the motion factors. All motion efforts contain a variety of movement themes.
A movement theme is used to develop the overall idea and content of a class.

Why to use Movement Themes?

Within the individual Genres of the fine arts, signifies theme the respective peculiarity and characteristic of the orderly and designed artistic material.

In Music it is the melodic main- thought out of which the musical phrase is developed.

In relation to a technical formative dance class, the theme takes the significance of a motif, which is carried within the movement combinations, phrases and elements and units therefore the movement material under an overall idea.

The human body movement is a very complex but natural approach to express oneself, to fulfil one’s necessities and ideas.

By studying bodily actions, one realises the different factors that create and develop a movement. The overall visible content of a body action.

Applying Movement themes to develop a dance class, to create the movement material, elements, Motifs, Frases and Combinations, can help to give a deeper bodily and metal understanding of a specific movement composition and guide to a more conscious and aimed execution.

It gives space for practice and experience of a given movement exercise, by focusing intently on one theme of a movement factor, as for instance:
- Concentration on the spatial execution
- Concentration on the flow of movement tension
- Concentration on the movement quality
- Concentration on the body coordination
- Concentration on the use of body
weight and/or muscular energy

Utilizing Themes to develop and structure a dance class is a rotary working process.
After introducing the movement theme and a constant practice and working process, the theme changes and gives the possibility to approach the exercise under another point of few, a different angle of movement observation, practice and concentration.

It is a very creative approach and process for the teacher, who develops with the time and practice a magnificent movement fantasy and a strong focus for the detailed movement execution and quality.
