Theme 5
Range of Movement
Normal Zones - Super Zones
Each part of the human body has its one Range of motion.
The Reach of movement is the ability of a body joint to move through its complete scale of movements. The Range of a body part is by its anatomy determined.
Normal Zones
Implies the natural reach of movement of a body part without any participation of another part of the body.
The pure movement of the head and its anatomical possibilities as: Rotation, Flexion, Extension without involving any other body part to enhance its range in space means moving in its normal Zone of range. Also called an isolated Body Movement
Super Zones
Implies the movement of a body part using other parts of the body, most of the time the part which is connected too, to enhance its
Range of motion. In using connected body parts, we can amount our capacity to reach into space and to enhance the range of movement of a part of the body, these by Flexion, Rotation, Extension and the use of the weight carriers, as the legs. Applying super zones in daily life is as natural and normal as reducing the body action on one isolated part. It depends always on the need of action.
